Another Week at the Turpins

Fun therapy and craziness around here:

The girls want Pillow Pets.  This tells you they are watching too much TV this summer!  :)  I made them earn half of the money.  Lizzy worked up at the farm for some of her money.  Everyone else did yard work for me.IMG_6436 IMG_6437 IMG_6440

Prettiness in my backyard:

Tuesday a friend surprised me with a pedicure – wow!  That afternoon we turned into a spa day here at home.  We painted our fingers and toenails purple and pink.IMG_6457  IMG_6462

Jason and Lizzy love target practice!             Sammi’s yummy treats for us all.IMG_6467 IMG_6469

We ordered a Butterfly Garden and it came this week!  We are so excited to see the caterpillars become butterflies!

IMG_6487On Saturday we had our first annual eat steak gathering.  :)  Mama and Daddy had T-Bone (one of their bulls) slaughtered and the four families here  in town divided up the meat.  This is a yummy tradition!  The kids kept saying, “There’s T-Bone.  Thanks T-Bone.”

Reclaiming our lives..

The first part of our week was spent separated.  Bella and I were downtown at TCH.  I asked my Mom to take Sammi, Jessi, and Lizzy for a couple of days to give Becca a break.  It sounds like they had a wonderful time.  Thank you Mama.  She says she has some pictures – hopefully she’ll post them on her blog so we can enjoy them.  Becca kept the fort running here.  Joy still got all of her therapies and got to stay in her normal environment, well, normal except that it was a lot more quiet!  :)  On Wednesday Becca made me cookies.  That was our home coming day.  She made giant cookies!  They were yummy!  Thank you Becca for everything!IMG_6397 IMG_6403 IMG_6415 IMG_6416

IMG_6420Becca is participating in our ward’s Summer Challenge for the Youth.  One component is to read the Book of Mormon in two months.  My girl who hates to read is doing it.  I am very proud of her.  Reading is not her thing.

IMG_6426Life in Bella’s room is getting back to normal.  Bella is feeling better (YEAH!).

Lizzy loves, loves, loves to play with nurse Earsel.  They do all of the clapping games that I remember from the play ground.  They are fast!

Before Bella got sick a month ago, we were reading the New Testament using the harmonic approach.  It’s fun.  If you open to the Bible Dictionary, there is a chart of the Harmony of the Gospels.  We read a section a day and read how the different Gospels recorded it.  In this picture (left) the girls are working on the timeline we are making of Jesus' life.  Becca feels too old to color, so she does the writing. :)

I love my family!  I am grateful for them and all they do for each other and me.  And in case you were wondering, date night on Friday was lovely.

Our Week

Sunday night Daddy did fireworks.IMG_6314 IMG_6326 IMG_6332

The rest of our week was dominated by Texas Children’s Hospital:July 10 002July 10 015

Otherwise there were chocolate dipped strawberries:  IMG_6380 IMG_6381

And Becca taught the girls games from EFY:July 11 006

I am so grateful for my girls.  They took care of each other while Bella and I stayed downtown.  Friday night Jason and I switched places.  I was determined to make Saturday a good day for them.  We started with Strawberry Sandwiches (pancakes with strawberries), then had lunch at Sonic.  We went to the farm (thanks Mama and Daddy!) then went to the movies.  Finally we ended up with some clothes shopping.  A fun day.  I love you girls!

Happy 4th of July!

Most of us are sick over here, but Jason and Becca went out yesterday and bought us all matching t-shirts.  While they were out they picked up some fireworks.  Just as they were making their selection, the heavens opened.  They were invited to come into the firework stand – pretty cool, until the lightening started striking all around them.  Jason thought that standing in a firework stand in the middle of a thunder storm was not the safest place to be!  We are glad they made it home safely.  :)

Our Week

Bella has been sick this week.  All she wanted was for me to hold her.  It’s been a long week.  This is when she started to feel better.

Monday we took Becca up to EFY in Huntsville.  Getting her settled in…

On Tuesday Jessi and I attended Ember Hill’s funeral.  That was heart wrenching.  We pray for their family every night.

With Bella sick, we haven’t really been able to go anywhere or do anything.  So the girls have used their imaginations and played, played, played.  I’m grateful for my girls.  They never complain.

Saturday morning I headed up to Huntsville and picked up Becca.  She had a wonderful time.  I am so grateful.  She loved her counselor, Emily.  By Saturday Bella was feeling well enough to wear clothes again and talk to her sister.becca efy 013IMG_6181
