It was so windy!  The littles and I stayed in the car while Jason and the big girls explored the Ohio and the drift wood.

American Printing House for the Blind

We went to tour the American Printing House for the Blind.  The Executive Director of the preschool had called ahead and told them we were coming.  So nice!

We loved the reliefs on the entrance to the museum.  We were listening to Rick Riordan’s The Red Pyramid on the way to Kentucky, so the Egyptian element was fun!

The light box – Alex went straight for a plastic colored piece.  Amazing!  I asked the museum curator how we could get some of the pieces.  He showed me which kit they were in.  He gave us some tips for getting materials from APH (like looking on ebay(!) and just ordering replacement parts – these kits are several hundred dollars each).  As we were leaving, he came out and handed me four pieces for Alex to use on his light box at home.  So very, very kind!

One of my favoirte memories was listening to the curator explain braille to Sandi (wish I had a picture, but I was wrestling Joy who was SO DONE with the museum).  I already understand so much about braille, but to hear it explained was amazing. 

They do a wonderful job there at the APH!  Thanks for letting us come and explore (destroy for a certain six year old)!

Grandma and Grandpa treated us to Outback for dinner that night!  Yum!  And then, of course, May I?
